Build Specification for Iain Short's Custom Les Paul, it was madeto my design and exact specification by Alan Brasen. Neck-AAAA Birdseye Maple glued into body, two piece with maple fretboard to match rest of neck. A piece of the body face wood is used for a cap on the neck base with a 1mm piece of the scrap from the walnut body. The Head is drilled and reamed for the Hipshot machine heads and shaped like a D.T. McNaught & given as much rake as the blank will allow to avoid use of string trees. The carved heal and deep soft V are exactly as designed. Neck to be flatish like a Tele not angled back like a Les Paul (the bridge is lower than a LP. Back of neck to be Soft V-shaped. Zero fret with ebony string spacer). 25.5 inch scale & 22 frets (yes, I know its strat' scaled not standard). Frets are Stainless medium jumbo. Machine Heads are Hipshot Chrome 3x3 Griplock. Body is two piece American walnut capped with Arch top flame maple with flat in centre to take the Hipshot bridge. 1/8 inch round over edge to rear side. Rear routed for electrics and the cavity cover to be made from a scrap of the walnut body. NO scratch plate. Finish is Blue burst + clear coated and false binding applied to Front Bridge is Hipshot Hardtail strung through the solid Brass tone bar made by muself. Pickups are from Krozka Sharpe 10k Humbucker in the neck position & 11k Humbucker in the bridge position. Pickups are mounted in Chrome brass pickup surrounds. Les Paul style three way switch wired "Neck - Neck/Bridge - Bridge" in the electrics cavity. One 500k Tone & One 500k Volume for the pickups. Treble bypass's is a .001uf sprague orange drop Cap with a 137k resistor). Knobs are chrome knurled dome top from Gotoh Japan
