1.Streamer hook of the appropriate size. I think this is a #6 Mustad 9672. 2.Thread: I use flourescent red Uni-stretch. Makes nice "gills". 3.Clamp a small bead on the hook about 3/8" inch back from the eye. Preferably an opened bead from a bead chain - brass/lead beads are too heavy. 4.Tie in matched flared feathers for a tail 5.Tie on a clump of deer hair in front of the bead with about 1/3 of the clump below the hook shank, with the tips sticking out over the eye. Pull tightly so the hair flares. Lock the clump down behind the bead with thread and trim the butts. 6.Using a rod ferrule of the appropriate size, push on the hair to reverse it, then tie it down behind the bead. Whip finish. 7.Coat the head with either diluted pliobond or clear nail polish and let it dry.
