Paul sellers video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dPb_5KFEYk&feature=related showing how to make a dovetail square was the inspiration for my version of a dovetail square. Its a design I haven’t seen made or used for thirty years or so. The six copper studs designate the 6:1 ratio this will mark out. I had some scraps of 1/4 inch ebony handy and used those. The two angle cuts were made in one pass to ensure identical 6 to 1 angles. As were the 90 degree cuts at the other end to ensure identical length. The four copper studs designate the 4:1 ratio this will mark out. I used Laminated ebony and English Laburnum. The copper markers are made from 3 pieces of copper wire twisted tightly together, soldered together and glued in to holes drilled halfway through the wood.
